I have experience in offering support for clients on the autistic spectrum, either with a formal diagnosis or undiagnosed. For these individuals, feelings and emotions can be difficult to express and communication is often confusing. I have worked with many individuals helping them explore ways of negotiating the world in an easier way. I can offer help to:
* families who have a child needing a more flexible type of counselling approach or need help towards understanding the difficulties their child is experiencing or are perhaps considering seeking a diagnosis
* couples where one partner is on the autistic spectrum and communication is difficult in the relationship. We can work on strategies to help with these differences
* individuals with high anxiety, low confidence and social difficulties who may need help in organisation skills to manage their life better, regulate emotions or manage poor working memory or sensory processing difficulties better
My approach is calm and supportive and I am of the understanding that relationships may be difficult to form so more sessions may be necessary to build a trusting therapeutic relationship together.
I have Autism-focused clinical supervision and attend regular continuing professional development sessions with Aspire Autism Training.
